Dancing with Alabama Ballet I am constantly inspired. By the art form itself. By our fearless artistic staff. By the talented dancers who make up our company. We are a family made up of grit and grace......and a lot of furry four legged friends.
When Kay and Connie approached me about a photographic collaboration between the Ballet and Birmingham's rescues, the project was a natural fit for our company. The life of a dancer is not easy. Constant physical and mental exhaustion are a given, self scrutiny and the quest for perfection make for impossible standards, and best friends are also competition. For any dancer who has uprooted their life for the art, the comfort of a canine at the end of a long day is priceless.
This book has truly been a labor of love that we could not have completed without the enthusiasm and support of the beautiful dancers that fill the pages.
We hope that following this book's journey brings you as much joy as the creative process has brought us.
